Modern websites by XP

Developing a modern website design can be challenging. The ideals on fresh, new, and modern designs seem to change as frequently as the seasons. XP has been developing and designing websites since the first web boom of the nineties. Now, with web 2.0 and online communities, the idea of modern website building can be daunting to unexperienced designers.

Let XP guide you in how to develop and maintain a modern website without breaking your budget or spending your time in front of a computer.

First step:
Take a look at other modern websites. Visit XP´s website portfolio for ideas on modern website design or search the web for sites that are continuously changing and renewing their image.

Second step:
Do you notice any similarities between websites of modern designs? What elements are common between these modern websites? Are there any design elements that distinguish these modern websites from basic or old websites?

Third step:
Model your site off the professionals. Large companies like Adobe, Target, or Amazon have impressive sites because they spend the time and money on developing these sites to be distinguished. It is ok to model your website off of the website giants, while adapting the style to suit your own personal needs. If you like the way that Amazon employs complex menus, then consider adding JavaScript menus to your website. If you prefer the cool, clean style of Adobe, consider using similar colors in your website.

Fourth step:
Keep it simple. In the modern website world, a simple, clear design is better than a complex website that may be difficult to navigate.

Fifth step:
Decorate with smooth angles, gentle gradients, or reflective elements. These design elements convey modernity and are central to the idea of a modern website design.

When in doubt, speak to a web designer. XP will be glad to help you design a modern website that is easy to update and maintain. Speak with your closest XP representative for information on modern website designs.
